Course Description

The Technical Rope Rescue operator training covers rescue principles and techniques that blend with the skill sets used by those working in technical rope rescue, fire rescue, tower rescue, confined space rescue, search and rescue (SAR), mountain rescue, urban search and rescue (USAR), helicopter operations, swiftwater rescue, tactical maneuvers & rescue, industrial rope access, theatrical rope access, building & structure inspection or maintenance, rope rigging and general work-at-height.

What certificate will i receive?

This course can be delivered at any one of our training centres or onsite at the clients location. However, prior to any courses being delivered remotely, approval must be provided by GSS. Contact us for more information.

  • There are no prerequisites required for Technical Rope Rescue Operator course.
  • Duration
  • Training contains physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such training must be medically fit and capable of participating fully. Delegates must either:

    1. Possess a valid medical certificate; or
    2. Possess a company approved medical certificate; or
    3. Complete a GSS medical screening form prior to attendance
  • Who is it for
  • This course provides a thorough introduction to technical rope rescue and covers the fundamental of low, steep and high angle rope rescue. Our hands-on approach makes it easy to learn (and remember!) the knots, bends and hitches and their application in simple rope systems. These skills have endless applications including accessing and moving personnel, equipment and casualties.

    This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1670 and 1006 Technical Rope requirements.

    Please note: In order to be NFPA 1670 compliant, personnel certified to the Operator level must be supervised by a team leader certified to the Technical Rope Rescue Technician level.
