The target group for Banksman and Slinger Competence Assessment are personnel that wish to become OPITO-certified competent banksman and slingers - having successfully completed the OPITO Banksman and Slinger Initial Training Standard and Banksman and Slinger Workplace Experience Logbook or possess sufficient and relevant work experience to be eligible for the OPITO Banksman and slinger Competence assessment.
The target group for Banksman and Slinger Competence Reassessment are personnel that wish to renew their OPITO Banksman and Slinger Competence or Banksman and Slinger Competence Reassessment certificate.
This assessment is for personnel who have been recommended to take on the LCP role by their sponsoring company and are required to be assessed (or re-assessed) against the competence assessment criteria for LOLER Competent Person.
N.B. No training is provided during this assessment. Candidates who require training, should consider the OPITO Approved Lift planning Training.

This course is for personnel who intend to act, or are already acting, as a Performing Authority in the workplace.

It is intended for personnel working across the energy sector with no previous experience as gas monitors, as well as experienced gas monitors needing OPITO certification.
This course is designed for personnel across the energy sector who require a theoretical understanding and awareness of Confined Spaces*, associated hazards and guidance.
*Confined Space Definition:
Any space of an enclosed nature where there is a risk of death or serious injury from hazardous substances or dangerous conditions within the space or nearby.
A space that is large enough and so configured that a person can bodily enter and perform assigned work and has limited or restricted means for entry or exit and is not designed for continuous human occupancy.
Note: Where regional legislative differences occur, the OPITO course will cover the local legislative definition. The course currently covers definitions for the United Kingdom, India and Qatar.
*This is the eLearning version of the OPITO Confined Space Awareness course.
This elearning training course is designed to meet the initial training

*Note: In the workplace, persons
